Racing since 1877, The annual Walgett Meet was first named The P.J.O'Brien Memorial Race Day in 2005 to honour the late Paddy O'Brien. Paddy's three sons, Michael, Dennis and Jim, thought it fitting to celebrate their father for his contribution toward the success of racing in Walgett. 

Fast becoming known as the best track out west, race day brings some big names and a large pool of quality racers. With the quality comes the incredible support of sponsors creating a collection of prizes to be envied out west!

Fun for everyone, from the big kids to the little ones, we have something to keep you all entertained. A fully catered luncheon, party marquees, jumping castles, food stalls, novelty races, live music and a bar. We we will keep the fun vibe buzzing through the day and into the night as we join you for a boogie on the dance floor under the Western stars!

Up to 1200  people attended the meet in 2022, with one of the best days recorded in the history of our race meets.
